About Dara
DARA’s ministry is peculiar. She’s fondly called “old school”
because of her strong & husky vocal renditions of her favorite
hymns, style of leading worship, ballads and some danceable numbers. As
someone describes DARA – “Gospel meets Cathedral”. DARA.
Fun, strong and so sociable, always reaching out, has a huge drive of
compassion and charity work for the poor and physically challenged. This
young lady of almost 44 years, by God’s grace shines through her 1st
album “Colors of My Heart” (Jumbo Ane), and single releases with Frank Edwards “Grace”, “Ojomiloju”, with Tosin Martins “Lokeloke”,
her personal testimonies as she daily beats the odds and challenges of
living with Multiple Schlerosis (an auto immune disease) and Optic
Neuritis (partial blindness). Living as she has for nearly 19 years,
constantly amazing the specialists handling her care.
Don’t let her size fool you, DARA is a woman of God, a force to be
reckoned with. Fun, fiesty, fiercely and proudly christian. DARA, whose
singing and style have evolved over a period of about 25 years began
singing as a teenager, with the Beacons in OAU Staff Quarters, Ile-Ife.
Then the Praise Creation Choir as a college student, and soon became a
popular voice on the college music landscape of that generation, growing
side-by-side Pastors Wale Adenuga, Wale Akinyemi, Big Bolaji, Bimbo Ekweme, Tinu Asigieme
and a host of others. DARA served as an active member of The RCCG
Freedom Hall Apapa Parish Choir – Kingdom Voices, mentored by Pastor Tony Rapu, Pastor Agu Irukwu and Pastor Eskor Mfon of blessed memory. She moved to the USA, as church Secretary and Choir Coordinator of The RCCG Jesus House under her dear Pastor Ghandi Olaoye, married the love of her life, Biodun Adewole
who she fondly calls D’Owner and has two adorable teenage children by
birth and a son, by adopted sponsorship in Indonesia, all just as
passionate as their parents.
DARA who is an avid lover of family, fun, fashion and “hot amala”
will tell you she’s not the best songwriter, the most sophisticated
vocalist or holiest Christian, but her huge flags of God’s sustenance
and strength through the so many trying times, moments of illness, reach
through her soulful heartfelt, uncomplicated music. Her singing draws
you to connect to her Source of inspiration, Jesus Christ, the Great
Physician Himself. She’s currently working on her 1st few music videos, a
book, and a new album among many. Still serving for 20years and
counting in her church choir, she’s co-owner of Manny & Olga’s, (a
Pizza Franchise with D’Owner). DARA is a mother and mentor to many, and
an honored member of the WAOMM International.
