GMA Dove Awards: Tasha Cobbs, Travis Greene, Cece winans, others battle for Gospel Artist of the year (see full nomination list)


Popular christian music artistes, Travis Greene, Tasha Cobbs and Kirk Franklin are in a close battle for the 'Gospel Artistes of the year' award in the 2017 edition of  Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, which recognizes Christian music makers in variety of genres.

N.B: 'Gospel Artiste of the year' and 'Artiste of the year' are two different categories



The Nashville, US-based association revealed this year's nominees  Wednesday with a live video stream. 

Williams and Daigle lead the pack of nominated artists with five nominations each, though neither are up for the show's big award, Artist of the Year. That category's nominees include Chris Tomlin, For King & Country, Hillsong United, MercyMe and TobyMac.

Other top nominees include Tomlin, Crowder, Kirk Franklin and NEEDTOBREATHE.  a And behind-the-scenes players are in for a big night, too: Writer/producer Wayne Haun has the most nominations overall, with six nods, followed by Bernie Herms and David Garcia with five each. 

The 2017 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards take place October 17, 2017 in Nashville at at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena. The show will be filmed, and will air on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) on October 22.
